Another Bridgnorth Turbine Application – The Hills, The Down

A planning application has been submitted for an 86.5m turbine at The Hills, The Down near the Ludlow Road. This is only 2 miles outside Bridgnorth.  As feared this application shows the possibility of a wind turbine landscape west of Bridgnorth. It is therefore important that feeling against this application is communicated to the Council. Similar issues to the Upton Cressett application apply in this case for example:
  • IMPACT EFFECT ON LOCAL LANDSCAPE AND SKYLINE
  • IMPACT ON VISUAL AMENITY OF LOCAL RESIDENTS
  • PROXIMITY TO HOMES
  • PROXIMITY TO JACK MYTTON WAY
  • IMPACT ON LOCAL BUSINESSES

To object to this application and see details of what is proposed please go to the Shropshire Council planning portal by clicking here. To enter an objection click on comments and then ‘Make a Comment’. Objections should be made by 15th July, but we understand the portal will remain open for comment for some time so please try to submit your view.

Supporters Meeting - Monday, 17 June 2013

Dr Chris Douglas addresses supporters at The Down Inn on campaign plans
Over 50 supporters gathered at the Down Inn on Monday, 17 June 2013 to learn plans for the fight against the application for two 80m wind turbines at Meadowley near Upton Cressett
The Stop Bridgnorth Wind Farm campaign is committed to fighting an application to install the turbines. The application became available to view on the Shropshire Council web site on 4 June and the public can comment on this up to 2 July.
Dr Chris Douglas opened the meeting and stressed the need for everyone, particularly those in the villages around Morville and Chetton who will live within the shadow of the 260 foot moving structures, not to delay in submitting their objection and showing the level of community feeling against the proposal.
Geoff Sinclair, planning consultant retained by the campaign, explained the contents of the application including the long term impact on the skyline for everyone in the area. This will adversely change the views and amenity of our historic landscape.
William Cash pointed out that there is a real danger that should this application be approved it opens the door to many more applications in the countryside west of Bridgnorth creating “a turbine hotspot similar to the appalling situation in parts of Northamptonshire and Leicestershire.”
