Bridgnorth
Anybody travelling out of Bridgnorth towards Shrewsbury, Much Wenlock or Ludlow will see the turbines looming down from a ridge at Meadowley three miles to the west of Bridgnorth. The official 2011 brochure for the Shropshire Hills area where the proposed wind farm site is located, cutting right across the famous Jack Mytton Way, describes the area as being ‘recognised as one of Britain’s finest landscapes’.

From the exact proposed turbine site at Meadowley one can see across much of the ‘stunning scenery’ across Shropshire, including the Wrekin, Wenlock Edge and on a fine day even the Malvern Hills. The unspoilt natural views that so inspired AE Housman in A Shropshire Lad, are ones that have ‘undoubtedly been admired for millennia and more’.
The proposed development will sacrifice the harmonious character and quality of the scenery and landscape around the Bridgnorth hills by placing 80 metre high turbines on a ridge that – along with several miles of attending pylons to plug into the National Grid - will overwhelm the natural landscape and disfigure the local landscape. Since we already have confirmation that developers and farmers have plans and proposals for additional turbines, and additional sites close by, there will be irrevocable damage for local tourism, heritage and community quality of life.
